What is color? Color comes from light itself, either natural or artificial. Where there is light, there is color; where there is strong light the color is likely to be intense. Every ray of light coming from the sun is composed of waves that vibrate at different speeds. In an experiment, this can be seen when white light passes through a prism and is broken up into an array of colors called a spectrum.
The color wheel is a means of organizing the colors of the spectrum. The only colors not on it are black, white, and gray.
The physical properties of color are:
Hue - a colors name
Value - Lightness (tint) and darkness (shade) of a color or hue.
Intensity - brightness or dullness (grayness) of a hue. An effect occurring when complimentary colors are mixed together to any degree.
Neutral colors: Make them by mixing complementary colors!
