The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. We call these patterns, tangles. You create tangles with combinations of dots, lines, simple curves, S-curves and orbs. These simple shapes are the "Elemental Strokes" in all Zentangle art.

Step-by-step directions for making a zentangle drawing:
Gather your materials: You'll need a pencil, a black pen (preferably a fine-pointed one), and a piece of paper.
Draw a border: Use your pencil to draw a border around the edge of your paper. This will help define the space you have to work with.
Make a pencil guideline: Draw a straight line horizontally across your paper, and another vertically. They should intersect in the middle of your paper, creating four equal sections.
Start drawing patterns: Begin drawing patterns inside each of the four sections. Start with one section and fill it with a pattern of your choosing. This pattern can be anything - dots, circles, lines, squiggles, etc. There's no right or wrong way to do this!
Draw more patterns: Move to the next section and draw a different pattern. Continue this process until all four sections are filled with unique patterns.
Add shading: Using your pencil, shade in some areas of your drawing to add depth and dimension.
Ink in your drawing: Once you're happy with your pencil drawing, use your black pen to go over the lines. You can add more details or patterns as you go.
Erase pencil marks: When you've finished inking your drawing, use an eraser to carefully remove any remaining pencil marks.
Use a pencil to add value and at least one 3-dimensional area to your work.
*** Admire your work: Your zentangle drawing is now complete! Take a step back and appreciate the intricate details and patterns you've created.
Remember, zentangle is all about relaxing and letting your creativity flow. Don't worry about making mistakes or following specific rules - the beauty of zentangle is in the uniqueness of each drawing. Have fun!
